LaBrea Tar Pits

Sam standing next to one of the Tar Pits. The tar was covered with water and large animals would walk out and get caught. They would die there and sometimes other animals who saw them trapped tried to attack them but then got caught themsleves.

The bones were preserved in Tar for thousands and thousands of years.

Sam was hungry and of course Gramps is willing to help him out.

Here in the midddle of LA is this wonderful park. Bill's family took him and his brother Joe here when bill was four years old. From that visit Joe developed a life long interest in science.

A huge beautiful (Live Oak?) in the park

Thanks for taking us here. It was neat to share memories from your childhood with you. That picture of us with the palm trees in the background is fun.
