Fun with Sam and Family leads to 4th of July peace

David and Gayle McVay. They are always such wonderful hosts. Sam had a lot of fun with them and really enjoyed feeding the catfish.

Marilyn and her Sister Sandy. They are great "friends" and enjoy talking on the phone for hours.

We turned Sam over to his dad we started home of "Paradise." As short stop to see Marilyn's Mom and we would be home in just over two hours.

WRONG - WRONG - AND WRONG AGAIN.
Who would have thought that the Merias des Cygnes River would have filled Harry S. Truman Lake to capacity? Who would have thought the river would flood over U.S. Highway 71 and even back up to flood U.S. Highway 69 in Kansas? After 14 inches of rain in a few days the river backed up nearly 50 miles. So we followed the highway detour. Just a short 100 miles out of our way.

After the startled reaction when we saw the artificial snake sam had left behind we relaxed.

When we got home the spirit of the 4th of July was upon us. Marilyn had already put up a Presious Moments decoration. Add to that one of God's creations from Marilyn's garden and the house was ready for the 4th of July.

On the 4th of July we got up at 5:00 a.m. to help the Rotary Club put up flags. This activity calls upon all of the Rotary Club members to put up and take down the flags. By putting up these flags our Rotary Club with only 36 members is able to provide $20,000 per year for college scholarships.

MAY YOU AND YOURS HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER.

Thanks for taking pictures and taking the time to post them. It makes me feel more a part of it all. It sounds like everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks so much for making sure Sam had time with the McVays and so much fun in Arkansas. Love you, Mary.

And thanks for putting up flags and raising money for scholarships and all of those good things you two do.
