In the serene beauty of Hawaii reminders of war remain

A rusted gun turrent from the USS Arizona the eternal resting place of far too many young men. The Pearl Harbor memorial salutes their loss and the loss of so many others. It is touching to hear of the visits of some who actually bombed Pearl Harbor and how they stand in reverence and awe. They time and time again throw flowers, pray, and their tears flow as they remember what they did.

Over all of this the American flag still flys and the bright white of the Pearl Harbor memorial shines and may help others to avoid the horror that is war.

Hello Bill,
Welcome to the world of blogging. And congratulations on being published - it is a bit surreal seeing your name in print. USS Arizona is an amazing place for any visitor, regardless of background and nationality. If we take away from there the horror and futility of war and if it makes us pause before launching into the same madness then this memorial has done mroe than its job.
